Be your own sculptor - part 1 of 2
There is an ancient, structured school of thought and development called a Mystery School. At the heart of any Mystery School training are several very powerful ideas. I would like to share one of them with you today. It is the idea that the “finished product” is already here, even though very few people can see it.
A good metaphor for this is the marble and the statue. The masterpiece statue already exists; it is the work of the master sculptor to know which pieces to remove and reveal its form. For each of us, removing the marble can be thought of as “removing impediments.”
Indeed, the list of possible impediments is very long. I will list a few:
Limiting beliefs — there are dozens of these
Noise — in all senses of the word, but primarily inner noise
Fear and insecurity
Anger
Rush, haste
Stress — in all its many forms
Unreasonable expectations
Too much in your head
Addictive behaviour
Not being the centre of your life
Over-dependency
Left brain cut off from your right brain
Prejudices and assumptions
Low self-esteem
Sleepwalking through life
I invite you to add to this list. What is impeding you? Once you know what your own impediments are, you can transmute them into positive agents of change. In the next post, we will explore what makes up the “statue”. Until then, be comfortable knowing that the statue is already here.
